หนังองค์บากเปิดตัวในอเมริกาเมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ผ่านมา โดยเปิดตัวฉายแบบจำกัดโรงด้วยเป็นหนังที่เน้นศิลปะการต่อสู้แบบมวยไทยที่ขนาดคนไทยอย่างเราอาจไม่เคยเห็นในเวทีมวยด้วยซ้ำ เพราะบางท่าอันตรายเกินกว่าจะนำมาใช้เป็นกีฬา ถือว่าสร้างความทึ่งให้กับฝรั่งไม่น้อย ดิฉันท่องในเน็ตแล้วบังเอิญได้เห็นกระแสจากอเมริกันชนในแง่ดีไม่น้อยเกี่ยวกับหนังเรื่องนี้ บ้างบอก จา พนม(Tony Jaa) คือ Action Hero คนใหม่ บ้างบอก เฉินหลง และ เจ็ท ลี คงต้องตกงานก็คราวนี้ บ้างบอก Tony Jaa จะก้าวไกลใน Hollywood แน่นอน และตอนนี้คนที่ดูหนังแล้วสนใจอยากเรียนมวยไทยกันเป็นทิวแถว บ่นหนังดีเกินกว่าจะฉายแบบจำกัดโรง แน่นอนหนังมีข้อเสียด้วยเนื้อเรื่องที่อ่อน และการแสดงอารมณ์ของนักแสดง แต่ส่วนใหญ่บอกนั่นเป็นปัญหาเล็กน้อย เพราะหนังขายฉาก Action ที่ทำให้ผู้ชมในโรงถึงกับอ้าปากค้างและตั้งคำถามว่าคนเราจะทำได้จริงอย่างที่จาทำหรือ แต่เมื่อเห็นกับตาก็ทึ่งไปตามๆกัน ผู้ชมบอก"ภาพ replay จำเป็นจริงๆสำหรับหนังเรื่องนี้ เพราะจะได้ยินเสียงร้อง อู้ อ้า ซี้ด ของผู้ชมในการได้เห็นฉากนั้นครั้งแรกกลบหมด แล้วคุณคงกระพริบตาไม่ได้เพราะจะทำให้พลาดฉาก Action เด็ดๆ"

Best martial arts movie in the past 10 years?
Yet, i truly believe this movie is easily the best martial arts movie to hit western cinemas in the past 10 years. Tony Jaa is a breath of fresh air for martial arts fans. Jackie Chan''s recent movies have taken a more comical storyline and Jet Li''s movies, though still worthy of very positive reviews, will never be as good as the old days of the Shaolin Temple series and the Once upon a time in China series. Also, Tony Jaa introduces a fighting style which has yet to make an impact in movie theatres, Muay Thai. Although "Ong-Bak" lacks alot in terms of acting and plot, the fighting and action will leave you in awe scene after scene. It must also be taken into account that there are "NO stunt-doubles, NO computer graphics and NO strings attached", as mentioned on the movie website: ****.com
Watch out for the next Tony Jaa film, "Tom Yum Goong", which is shot in Sydney (Australia), and will be released later in the year in Thailand and will feature in the Asian film festival. Can''t wait for it!
The new martial arts master
Ong Bak is a movie that is a throwback to the old Kung Fu action flicks of the 70''s, not meant to be an artsy, epic film like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". It''s got it all. Corny acting, an unoriginal story, a pain-in-the-ass bad guy, and of course, great action by a wonderful martial artist.
Tony Jaa is amazing. He is very versatile as he fights with grace like Jet Li, does stunts that Jackie Chan would take notes, and has a violent, bone-breaking power to him like Bruce Lee.
We''ve all must have heard it by now. "No wirework, no CGI, and no stuntmen." Tony Jaa is indeed the new Bruce Lee. What is also interesting is the fact that he brings the Thai fighting style to America screens, while Lee, Chan, and Li were from China. We all know of the martial arts history between China and Japan, (with monks, warriors, ninja, and samurai), but Thai fighting is definitely abusive. Victims receive crunched skulls from elbows, to devastating knee bashes in the chest, to wild kicks that appear out of nowhere and send you threw walls (or maybe whip-lashed off of a oncoming dirtbike).
Well, I said what I had to say about Tony Jaa. The movie itself is flawed. It is very entertaining, but the acting is poor in it. Plus, a mob boss who has a hole in his neck and needs to talk through a machine gets very annoying. And the main girl who sides with Tony Jaa and Dirty Balls (A characters name, no joke) has a very annoying voice. However, the movie is what I expected it to be, and was also very funny. Reminiscent of the old days.
This movie will go down as a martial arts classic and Tony Jaa is on his way up to immortality.
